5 Ways to Prepare For Your Future
1. Accept Christ as your Savior.
Yes, I believe that Jesus is the only way to God. To secure your seat in heaven, you must believe that Jesus is the son of God and that he shed his blood for your sins and died for you. You must also believe that God raised him from the dead and he is now seated in heaven and will return for you at his appointed time. He’ll take you home to heaven to live with him.
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.
2. Be Healthy.
Part of the gift of salvation includes our health. Christ took on sickness and disease so that we would not have to. To prepare for the future, be healthy. God did his part, but there’s a part we are responsible for too. We are to eat right, exercise, enjoy the outdoors, etc. Take preventative actions for a healthy, long life.
2 Peter 2:24
“He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.”
3. Be Happy.
This point actually will help with the point above. When a person is happy and full of joy, their health is boosted. Enjoy life. “Live each day to the fullest.” When it’s time to laugh, laugh hard. Be thankful for every blessing. Smile. You’ll feel much better than if you are sad and depressed.
A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.
4. Have A Plan.
Don’t let your future just happen to you. Have a very clear plan about how things should be done. There are several plans to have. You should have a financial plan. Have a plan for death. Make sure your family knows where all of you important documents are. Have insurance. For loved ones left behind, grief and confusion are a bad mix and can feel like an avalanche. God has plans for us. We too, should have plans for our families.
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
5. Leave An Inheritance.
With proper planning, one can arrange to leave an inheritance. Please don’t get caught up on amounts. Yes, a monetary inheritance is great. However, if you don’t have those kind of means, leave something lasting. Leave a legacy of salvation. Make sure your loved ones know who Jesus is. Leave an inheritance of love, joy, peace, etc. Leave wisdom. Should you depart this life, there should be some legacy from you that remains.
Proverbs 13:22A good person leaves an inheritance for their children’s children, but a sinner’s wealth is stored up for the righteous.
